This page has ideas about things you can make / design yourself for Charities. People are often willing to either give a bit of time to charity knitting etc or to buy the stuff you make.
Will also include links to the web pages of charities that need knitters / designers.

Have been working on some designs for the Pulmonary Hypertension Association http://www.phassociation.uk.com/, as they have a "Blue Kisses" appeal and awareness raising campaign going. The designs will be published in their next newsletter!
You can download the patterns by clicking on the photo :-)
Necklaces - there are 2 cute little necklaces made of yarn, buttons and beads. These project are crochet with a bit of sewing involved and are fun and simple to make, the only limit is your imagination :-)
Keyring purses - these cute little purses are quick and easy to make - you can whip one up in an evening. There is also a pattern for a neck purse included all in garter stitch, so they're also suitable for inexperienced knitters.
Hand Bag - this is very loosely based on the shape of a "designer" bag I saw being paraded around the "Ladies Enclosure" at Ascot - although I designed this one myself from scratch using a picture of lips I skteched out.
Coasters
These cute little cross stitch coasters are worked in acrylic yarn on plastic canvas and have the advantage of being fully machine washable :-) The pattern contains charts for 4 different designs
